Master Classes from the Flock

Join us this fall as we learn from two men with many decades of experience in studying the Bible and walking with God, the Master of all creation.

Hap Struthers has traveled widely through the years, first as a Navy Chaplain and later speaking and teaching in 35 countries. He and his wife, Bev, have ministered together for most of their 69 years of marriage. Hap’s own deep intimacy with God will be evident as he teaches us on one of his favorite topics, “Knowing God Intimately through His Attributes”.

Luke Cutherell has recently retired after a 36-year career as a medical missionary at Bach Christian Hospital in Pakistan, where he was born and raised. Luke received his undergrad and medical education in the U.S., and then he and his wife Nancy returned to Pakistan and raised their 4 sons there. His teaching from the Bible is enhanced by a lifetime of trusting the Lord and seeing Him provide in often difficult circumstances. Luke will lead a study, “Faith Lessons from the Minors”, focusing on insights from lesser-known Bible characters.

Our Wednesday morning Bible study will include both large-group teaching and small-group discussion times, and it is a great place to get to know VBCC women on a more personal level. Join us on Wednesday evenings as we study The Stories of Women in the Bible by Colleen Searcy.

This study explores stories of women such as Sarah and Hagar, Elisabeth and Mary and Anna and Tabitha. Through the stories of Scripture's daughters, sisters, mothers, single women and wives, we will be better equipped to see how God engages with women and invites them into His work.

This will be the 2nd year for VBCC families to participate in the Father & Son retreat at Camp Willow Springs, a Christian camp and retreat center located on beautiful Lake Gaston near Littleton, NC. This retreat is for dads with sons in grades 1-5. The weekend includes times of family worship, great food, fun recreation (including archery, canoeing, red shark, swimming pool, giant swing, jumping pillow, octo-ball, and more), and the Father/Son Olympics!

Family Field Day

Join us for Family Field Day, a fun afternoon with other families at Great Neck Park. This event is for all families with children K-12th grade!

We'll begin hanging out at 4 p.m., with structured games for everyone around 4:30. Then a fried chicken picnic dinner will be served around 5:15. After that, families are welcome to continue enjoying the park together. We will be there as a group until 7 p.m.

Shelter #4 is reserved for us. It's not visible from the parking lot, but it's across the short bridge on your left as you enter the parking lot. There will be signage to help you know where to go. There is parking by the path, and additional parking in front of the central pavilion building.

There is no cost, but please register by June 1 to help us with a headcount for dinner. Dinner is provided. Feel free to bring a chair and any activity/equipment you'd like to enjoy with other families.
