March 8-10, (Fri.-Sun.)

This camping trip is for high school and 8th grade guys to grow spiritually and experience the Lord’s creation in the mountains of Western North Carolina.

The trip will be in the Chimneys (Linville Gorge, NC) (7 hours away). We will drive the church van (Curt Kenney driving) and the trip will be led by Curt and Sam Doster. Sam is a native of the North Carolina mountains and a certified bear whisperer.

Schedule:
Arrive at VBCC at 12:00PM on Friday, March 8 and we will depart shortly thereafter (please eat lunch beforehand and feel free to bring snacks in the van). We will return to VBCC at 5:00 PM on Sunday, March 10.

Cost:
$10 per student. Give this to Curt, Sam, or Josh in cash.

Packing List:
Sleeping bag, sleeping pad, backpacking backpack (if you have it or you can get one), small snacks (granola bars), warm socks (3 pairs/one of those pairs should be wool), a change of underwear, warm pants (2-3 pairs/ one of those pairs needs to be hiking, waterproof pants and another pair needs to be thermal pants), shirts (2-3 pairs/ one of those should be a long sleeve shirt), warm jacket or hoodie, one good coat, a rain jacket just in case, good hiking boots or good sturdy shoes (if you have any questions about shoes please let Sam know), gloves if you want them, flashlights (preferably a headlamp and a small one you can carry), one regular water bottle and one thermal water bottle, camping utensils (fork, knife and spoon/Sam will have extra just in case), a plastic bowl and plate for our meals, a bible, toothbrush and toothpaste, two plastic bags ..... and more to come. (Please let Sam know if you have a tent we can use). We'll be sending out a detailed packing list soon.
