They serve you hamburgers. They clean your hotel rooms. You rent bicycles from them on the boardwalk. Who are they?

They are J1 visa participants from all over the world who are working here in Virginia Beach for the summer season. And there are hundreds of them!! Despite the large number, to most of our population, these individuals are almost invisible. But not to God. And not to us. We think they're spectacular examples of God's vast creativity and beauty.

Our ministry to internationals is all about building relationships that will change the world forever. Think of the repercussions. If you are a follower of Christ that longs to share His love to all nations, then consider this your opportunity. It takes hundreds of volunteers to care for these students. We'd love to plug you in.

J1 Kickoff Sunday

Take part in God’s global vision of making His name known among all nations by engaging in the VBJ1 ministry this year! You can get started today by picking up a welcome bag in the Porch starting May 3rd and filling it with the items on the attached packing list. Please return your filled bag to VBCC any Sunday in May or at the Volunteer Orientation June 2nd.

Bike Work Day

Come help us clean and label bikes, pump tires, patch tubes, and conduct minor repairs for J1 students! We will meet at VBCC May 9th from 9am-12pm.

VBJ1 Volunteer Orientation

Whether you are a seasoned volunteer or this is your first year with VBJ1, we ask that you would attend the Volunteer Orientation and Prayer Night for an evening of equipping and prayer on June 2nd at 6pm in the VBCC gym.

VBJ1 Café

Our ministry starts with a Tuesday night dinner party called VBJ1 Café that runs from June 9th-August 11th from 7:00pm to 9:00pm. We provide food and a friendly place to gather that is close enough to the oceanfront for the internationals to walk or bike. Tuesday night, however, is only the beginning. We hope our volunteers will find more ways of showing hospitality with the ultimately goal of sharing Christ and His love to those from around the world.

God has brought the mission to you. Do you accept?
