November 8 | Acts 21 | The Footsteps of Christ
We all have patterns or familiar ways of handling difficult relationships or conversations. Are you more inclined to be combative (try to win), to compromise, or to simply avoid that person or conversations?
Read Acts 21:17-21. Despite three separate warnings from the Holy Spirit, Paul insists on going to Jerusalem, where he knows he will be imprisoned. Why doesn’t he change his mind? Why are we inclined to run from suffering?
Read Acts 21:22-25. FF Bruce writes, “A truly emancipated spirit like Paul’s is not bondage to its own emancipation. What does it look like for us to live as though we are free in Christ? How do the virtues of honesty, humility, and prudence help us to navigate difficult conversations and relationships?
Read Acts 21:27-36. What is the prize that Paul is chasing when he is arrested in the temple? What prizes are you chasing today? What might it look like for you to aim for gospel movement?
What is one step you will take this week to put this Scripture into practice? Spend time praying for one another toward that end.
